Biography
Emily Lau teaches piano at her home studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After many years away, she returned with her family to her home state in late 2021.
Previously, Emily taught privately in Metuchen, NJ, and was on the faculty at the New School for Music Study — the lab school for the Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy. She also curated video content for piano teachers on behalf of the Center.
Devoted to lifelong learning, Emily frequently attends pedagogy workshops and conferences to refine her teaching skills. She participates as an active member of multiple local and national professional organizations for music teachers. Emily received the Member of the Year Award for her services to the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association in 2013.
Emily came to the US from Hong Kong at age ten. She grew up in Oakland county, MI, attended the International Academy in Bloomfield Hills, and went to college at the University of Michigan.
