Mozart and the Modern Piano
Is there any way we can recreate the vitality and emotional impact that Mozart’s music must have had when first heard, now that we have heard everything else in between? This talk will search for ways, using an instrument Mozart never imagined, that students can move towards evoking the feelings his music might have elicited in the original listeners, and to explore the boundaries of integrity and sincerity in performance.
Arthur Greene is Professor of Piano at UM School of Music Theater and Dance.
Formal Meetings open at 9:00 with coffee, refreshments and socializing. Our business meeting follows, beginning about 9:30. Guest presenters start their presentation at 10:00 am.
