In case you wonder who is Fred on the written note used to illustrate our blog, here is the story.

A very long time ago, my piano teacher in Lyon (France) was sorting through all her belongings as she was  preparing to move to a different city and, it turned out,  embark on a very different path. She had decided to enter the order of the Carmelites and was not only sorting and organizing her things, but mostly giving away most everything she owned.

She wrote me a very sweet letter in 1983, which I still have, explaining that she was happy to pass along original copies of  two notes from Georges Enesco to Alfred Cortot. She thought I had a sense of history and would appreciate these mementos.

How did I remember these as an illustration for our Blog 30 years later is one of these mysterious connections that tie our memories to our attempts to deal with the future.  In a way, being able to share these tiny treasures makes it a little easier for me to wander in cyberspace.

Yes, this is my very first Blog entry!
