Summer Piano Ensemble Camp 2017

Summer Piano Ensemble Camp

JUNE 19-23, 2017

9:00 AM – 1:30 PM

at the FABER PIANO INSTITUTE

We are happy to announce that the third AAAPTG Summer Piano Ensemble Camp will be held June 19-23, 2017 from 9AM to 1:30PM at The Faber Piano Institute.

The primary objective of the camp is to provide an opportunity for middle and high school piano students to develop the skills required to play in small groups.

There will be openings for 17 campers, ages 10 and up.  The ideal piano student would at minimum be able to play a sonatina or repertoire of similar level of difficulty with fluency, perhaps plays another instrument, and is responsive to others in social settings.  It’s not necessary that the student has played in an ensemble, but it’s important that s/he is diligent and open to trying new pieces and new ways of playing.

For instrumentalists, participating in the camp is by invitation from their private teachers.

The repertoire will be carefully selected to match the proficiency level of each student, and, as much as possible, their personality and age group.

The social aspect of this program and the unique skills for ensemble playing and accompanying that students will learn during this camp makes it a possible way of engaging students at a time when they may otherwise lose interest in solo playing.  We hope that you consider this opportunity as a preparation for ensemble playing in high school and beyond.
