Chamber Music Workshop

Chamber Music Workshop

June 18 – 23, 2018

Why?

After running the Piano Ensemble Camp for the past three years, which mainly targets students in middle school, we are creating this year a new program for more experienced and advanced players in high school.

What is it?

This year, the Chamber Music Workshop will be integrated into the Piano Ensemble Camp and will provide longer coaching and rehearsal time necessary for delving into more advanced repertoire.  Participants will also have access to master classes and group sessions culminating in a performance and celebration at the Faber Piano Institute on Saturday from 10AM to 1PM.

The repertoire and all logistics will be tailor made for the participants. We hope to welcome between 5 and 8 players including piano duets (or 2-piano tandems), and piano ensembles with string and woodwind instruments. We are lucky to have a wonderful pool of highly trained professionals in Ann Arbor who have worked with us in the past and whom we will invite based on the formations we can put together.

Who should apply?

High school students who have participated in the camp for 2 years or more and have demonstrated a high level of skills and dedication would be perfect candidates for this workshop. However, other high school students are very welcome to apply.

You will have to be diligent with the learning of the repertoire chosen for you during the 6 weeks prior to the workshop, so you are ready to rehearse. This is a MUST!

How to apply?

  • Speak with your teacher first to check if this is a good fit for you and your level of skills
  • Email a short note to Beatrice Ellis (aapianoteachers@gmail.com) indicating your level of playing, your experience in ensemble playing, and a list of three solo or chamber music pieces you have played in the last year.
  • Upon receipt of your email, you will receive an application form.

When to apply?

  • Registration fee and form must be received by April 16, 2018
  • Full tuition must be paid by May 1, 2018.
